High-Speed, High-Quality Burning (DVR-520H-S)
They don’t call this “burning” for nothing. The DVR-520H-S
records from its Hard Disc Drive to DVD at very high speed.
An hour-long program recorded in Basic EP mode takes less
than 90 seconds when using 8x media. Yes, it’s that fast.
You can even watch other recorded content on the Hard
Disc Drive while backing up a DVD (high-speed copying).
Disc Backup and Bit-for-Bit Recording (DVR-520H-S)
The DVR-520H-S also features Disc Backup, a Pioneer
exclusive. You can make a direct file transfer of your home-
movie DVD to the unit’s Hard Disc Drive, and from that
make as many copies of your original DVD as you want, all
at blazing speed. This is a great feature even for
videophiles who do their editing on their home computer
and burn their material to DVD. And unlike other Hard Disc
Drive-to-DVD recorders, it doesn’t recompress the video to
another format. It makes a perfect copy that is bit-for-bit
identical to the original, every time.
Chase Play: Prime Time Starts Now
Let’s say that you set the timer to record your favorite
program, but end up getting home early, while it’s still
recording. And you want to see it right now, from the
beginning. Good news: you don’t need to wait until the
recording’s done. With Chase Play, you can watch the
program from the beginning as the rest of the program is
being recorded.
With either model, Chase Play lets you watch, stop, or
pause a show that you’re recording. With the DVR-520H-S,
the Hard Disc Drive is handling both Chase Play tasks. But
the DVR-320-S accomplishes Chase Play without a Hard
Disc Drive, using a memory buffer and recording directly to
standard DVD-RW discs (VR Mode)

(2 – 4X recording speed)
Smart VBR (Variable Bit Rate Recording)
This recording mode lets you choose the quality
level/recording time that best suits you. Choose from Fine,
SP, LP, EP, and Auto; Auto automatically sets the best
recording quality for the time remaining on the disc. Both
models have an improved VBR recording process for the
best possible video quality in any recording mode.
Virtual Liquid Crystal Tilt Mechanism
When recording to DVD, it’s critical to have a precisely
aimed laser beam. But sometimes imperfections in blank
DVD discs cause the laser to lose accuracy, and you can
get a less-than-perfect recording. Our new improved virtual
lens tilt mechanism featuring liquid-crystal technology
corrects for these imperfections, assuring the most
accurate recording possible.
TV Recording with Built-in Tuner
TV shows and movies are among the most popular material
to record — which is why Pioneer’s DVD Recorders include
a built-in TV tuner. It’s easy to find and record your favorite
TV program: use either Pioneer’s timer record system with
its graphical interface and handy calendar, or the widely
used VCR Plus+®system.
Sophisticated Video Playback
The DVR-520H-S and DVR-320-S feature PureCinema 2:3
Progressive Scan for a more film-like presentation when
watching movies. A full set of connections is provided,
including a component video output for higher-quality signal
transfer to your TV. Both models offer a JPEG photo viewer
that’s compatible with Fuji and Kodak discs, and CD-R/RWs
burned from your computer.
Superior Audio. Of Course.
As with all Pioneer components, great audio comes built in.
Both models feature Dolby Digital and DTS Digital surround
sound outputs, along with high-quality audio and video D/A
converters.
