Using the RDS Functions
PTY Function
With Wide and Narrow classification of program type, the PTY function provides two ways
to select stations by the type of program being broadcast (PTY Search). It also provides auto-
matic tuning to emergency broadcasts (PTY Alarm).
Searching the PTY
Note:
• There’s no need to perform PTY Search settings again if they have previously been set. After
displaying the PTY Search Plate in step 1, just perform PTY Search in Step 6.
1. Display the PTY Search Plate by pressing the
PTY button.
Return to the previous display by pressing PTY button
again.
2. Highlight “WIDE” or “NARROW” by moving
the joystick right.
3. Click the joystick.
Each click changes the PTY Search method in the fol-
lowing order:
WIDE
=
NARROW
4. Highlight PTY picture by moving the joystick
left.
5. Select one from among the PTY by moving the joystick up/down.
You can select “NARROW” classification of program type within the selected
“WIDE” classification.
6. Click the joystick.
The tuner searches for a station broadcasting the
desired PTY.
Note:
• You can also switch to the PTY Search Plate by pressing the DISPLAY button. (Refer to
“Display the Flip-Down Plate” on page 24.)
• The program of some stations may differ from that indicated by the transmitted PTY.
• If no station broadcasting the selected programming type is found, “NOT FOUND” is dis-
played for about 2 seconds, and the tuner returns to the original station.
