5.3.2 Your installation includes a DiSEqC switch
To watch programs from different satellites you need to install a DiSEqC switch in your antenna set up. A DiSEqC switch has
2 or 4 inputs and one output. The inputs are identified by A / B alternatively 1 / 2 for a 2 input switch. The inputs are
identified by A / B / C / D alternatively 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 for a 4 input switch.
Each LNB shall be connected to one input of the switch by means of an appropriate coaxial cable fitted with F type plugs
while the switch output is connected to the LNB Input of the satellite receiver by means of an appropriate coaxial cable
fitted with F type plugs.
As example refer to the connection diagram below to insert a DiSEqC switch in an antenna set up which includes 2 LNBs.
The popular configuration shown is made of one antenna fitted with 2 LNBs for the reception of Astra 19.2° East and Hot
Bird 13° East satellites. Pay attention to the relative position of the Astra and Hot Bird LNBs in the set up, it is necessary to
get the system up and running the first time.
Refer to the installation process described in paragraph 5.3.1
At step 5 antenna configuration set "Antenna Control" menu item:
- either to "Tone Burst" if you have a tone burst switch and two LNB to control,
- or to "DiSEqC 1.0" if you have a DiSEqC switch and up to 4 LNB to control.
At step 6 select which LNB's shall be active. Once the cursor is on an active LNB, pressing
OK
open the relevant "LNB
configuration" menu allowing setting change to your convenience and check of the signal quality.
Note:
- For more details on possible option settings consult the paragraphs 8.4.2 "Installation / Antenna configuration" and 8.4.3 "Installation /
LNB Configuration". The proper satellite installation requires:
Matching LNB number with satellite name (for instance Astra 19.2 allocated to LNB1)
Right physical connection in between the LNB aiming at a given satellite and the appropriate DiSEqC switch input. In the menu
"Installation / LNB Configuration" (8.4.3 section): LNB1 means "the LNB which is connected to DiSEqC switch input 1, LNB2
means "the LNB which is connected to DiSEqC switch input 2", etc
- If your installation includes an assembly incorporating 2 LNB's combined with a DiSEqC switch in one block (so called mono-block),
consult its user manual to properly allocate each satellite to the relevant DiSEqC switch inputs (Hot Bird respectively Astra 19.2 East
satellite might be allocated to input 1 respectively input 2 of the DiSEqC switch). Make sure Satellite name (Hot Bird for instance) is
allocated to the right LNB number (LNB1 for instance).
