DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE
1)
WARNING:
All air pressure in unit must be relieved prior to disassembly of gripper.
2) During disassembly, be careful to avoid scratching bearing or sealing areas. See table 1 for torques and table 2 for hex sizes.
3)
-GR9 units:
Remove fasteners from flange, remove flange and seals, see figure 1.
Standard, -V1, -L11-UB99, -GR9 & -Y4 units (see figure 2):
Remove bore plug retaining ring, bore plug, plug seal.
4) Remove piston and rod assembly. Note: size 6 requires a special tool to remove, dimensions shown in figure 3.
5)
Size 6 only:
Remove body fasteners.
6) Slide jaws and driver out of body, note orientation of jaws and driver.
7) Thread supplied fastener into rod seal retainer as shown (see figure 4). While supporting body, press supplied pin against supplied fastener
from jaw slot end of body to remove rod seal retainer and rod seal (see figure 4).
8) Remove piston and bore plug seals, care should be taken to not scratch sealing surfaces.
9) Clean and inspect all components.
Warning:
Do not adjust or remove bearing screws. Worn or damaged components should
be replaced.
REASSEMBLY PROCEDURE
1) Be careful to avoid damaging seals during reassembly.
2) Lubrication guidelines (only use lubricants which are compatible with pneumatic devices)
· Standard units: all components use petroleum-based high pressure grease
· -Y4 units: all components use Cleanroom designated grease
· -V1 units: all components use PTFE based lubricant
3) Use removable threadlocker on all threaded connections. See table 1 for torques and table 2 for hex sizes.
4) Lubricate bore and jaw slot of body.
5) Lubricate and install rod seal into rod seal retainer, see figure 5 for orientation. Sizes 6 and 10 use an o-ring and do not have an oreintation.
6) Lubricate and press rod seal retainer into body, see figure 5 for orientation.
CAUTION:
Verify retainer is centered. Keep perpendicular to bore
during press.
7) Lubricate jaws and drivers. Apply small amount of threadlocker in driver thread. Assemble driver and jaws together. Slide jaws and driver
into jaw slot. Move jaws to closed position and center in body (this locates driver properly for P&R assembly).
8) Install piston seal, lubricate seal and piston & rod assembly. Install piston & rod assembly in body while rotating. Torque Piston & rod per
table 1.
9) Install bore plug seal, lubricate seal and bore plug. Insert into body. Insert bore plug retaining ring in body, make sure retaining ring is
properly seated in groove.
10)
Size 6 only:
Apply threadlocker to body fasteners, install fasteners in body. Adjust fasteners to allow for proper cycling of unit at desired
pressure.
11)
GR9 units:
Lubricate and install o-rings in body. Apply threadlocker to flange fasteners, install fasteners through flange and into body, align
flange with switch slots and dowel pin holes in body per figure 1. Torque flange fasteners per table 1.
