Free-standing installation
Installation
The time the electrical con-
sumer remains ON can be
adjusted continuously
(from about 8 seconds to
35 minutes). When this pe-
riod has expired, any move-
ment within the monitoring
zone restarts the timer.
The most reliable motion
detection is achieved by
mounting or pointing the
unit to aim across the di-
rection in which a person
would walk, and so that no
hindrances such as trees or
walls obstruct the line of
sight.
The integral photo-electric
lighting controller (LDR) is
also continuously adjust-
able, from about 2 lux to
about 2,000 lux.
2 lux
(ca. 0.2 footcandles)
= nighttime operation,
2,000 lux
(ca. 190 footcandles)
= daytime operation.
The sensor’s detection angle
is divided into 2 levels iwth
a total of 16 segments.
The angle through which it
can swivel, 180
h
to the front
and the rear, allows the de-
tection zone to be selected
freely.
Caution:
The installation in-
volves connecting the unit
to the power mains. The
household supply voltage
can be lethal! First switch
OFF the power and check
that the circuit is dead with a
voltage detector.
The installation of the sensor-
switched floodlight involves
connection to the mains
supply and there for has to
be performed workmanlike
according to the VDE 0100
standard.
Do not disconnect the inter-
nal wiring to the lamp-wire
connector; instead, connect
the feeder cable according to
the markings present.
When fastening the flood-
light, take into account how
the wiring runs inside the
wall; drill the holes and insert
dowels.
In order to perform switch-
ing, the power supply must
be connected to the terminal
compartment with a three-
wire cable. In doing so, pay
attention to correct installa-
tion of the strain relief. The
leads can be connected
to the lamp-wire connector
before screwing the strain-
relief clamp tight.
Connection of power supply
lead
The supply lead consists of
a three-wire cable with a mi-
nimum conductor cross-
section of 0.75 mm
2
.
L
= phase conductor
(usually black or brown),
N
= neutral conductor
(usually blue),
PE
= protective-earth con-
ductor (green and yellow).
In case of doubt, identify the
conductors with a voltage
tester, then disconnect from
the power supply and check
again.
Insert the phase
(L)
and
neutral
(N)
conductors into
the marked terminals of the
lamp-wire connector. Con-
nect the protective-earth
conductor
(PE)
to the earth
(ground) terminal. This lamp
must not be operated unless
earthed!
The integrated pyroelectric
infrared detector senses the
invisible heat radiated from
moving objects (people,
animals, etc.). The heat
detected in this way is con-
verted electronically into
a signal that switches the
floodlight ON. Heat is not
detected through obstacles,
such as walls or panes of
glass, and will therefore not
activate the light.
