Starting the engine

** A minimum of electrical tension must come
from the battery to power the injection system
and so to move off .

- With the electric starter

For safety reasons

- Put the scooter on its central stand.

The electric starter will not work unless you squeeze
the left brake lever.

To start the engine

- Turn the ignition key to the               position
- Grip the

rear

or front

brake

 lever

- Press the starter button
- Release the button when the engine starts

Hold the throttle closed

Warning

Never run the engine in a closed room.  Exhaust
gases contain carbon monoxide and toxic gases.

- Kick start *

For safety reasons

-  Put vehicle on its central stand

To start the engine

-  Turn the ignition key to the              position
- Grip the

rear

or front

brake

 lever

- Kick the lever all the way through with a fast

and continuous movement

- Keep your foot on the pedal until it reaches

the end of its travel

Hold the throttle closed

- Do not allow the lever to kick back freely against its
limit stop
If the engine does not start after several attempts
with the kick starter or after three or four attempts with
the electric starter, open the throttle slightly and push
the kick start quickly and continuously.
To warm up gradually, let the engine run for a few
minutes with the throttle closed keeping the rear brake
on.

- De-flooding the
engine**

After many starting attempts, it can be necessary
to ventilate the cylinder for eliminating the fuel
excess .

- Turn the ignition key .
- Open the full throttle .
- Switch on the engine starter few seconds.
- Close the throttle and begin again the

starting procedure .

Stopping the engine

With the engine running at idling speed

- Turn the ignition key to the                   position
- Put the vehicle on its stand
- Turn the key to the position

(locking the steering) in order to avoid risk of theft

- Remove the key

- Parking on the stand

- Avoid driving or parking on easily

inflammable materials (eg : dry leaves, …)
The stand is fitted with a lever to park the scooter
easily.

-  Move to the left side of the scooter
-  Hold the scooter by its handlebar and the

grab handle at the back of the saddle

-  Push the stand lever with your right foot

while pulling the scooter backwards with the
handlebars and the saddle's grab handle.

Warning

Make sure that the vehicle is stable once on its
stand, if it falls over, this could result in bodily
injury and / or damage to the vehicle itself.

Driving

- Running in

Running in has an essential influence on correct
operation, power and long life of your engine.

During the first 500 kilometers, never run your
vehicle at maximum speed, particularly when
cold or going down hill.

- Fouled engine injection

Important

In order to prevent the engine from getting
prematurely fouled, we recommend that you do
not let it idle for a long period of time. Instead, let
the engine warm up by riding your machine
normally, and avoid whacking the throttle wide
open for the first minutes of use.

Caution

Sometimes you may have to ride at high engine
speed over a short distance while respecting the
traffic regulations in order to eliminate possible
engine fouling.

- Driving

With the engine running on its stand :

- Keep the rear (left) brake lever on to lock the

rear wheel

- Do not open the throttle
- Push bike off centre stand
- Get onto your scooter
- Free the rear wheel (release the brake le-

ver)

- Accelerate to start (turn the throttle

gradually)

- Turn the throttle in the opposite direction to

decelerate.

Caution

You must stop the rear wheel spinning before
you push bike off centre stand (apply rear brake
lever)
If the rear wheel is turning you could lose
control of the scooter when it touches the
ground.

- Do not accelerate roughly (quickly

opening and closing the throttle)

- Do not leave your scooter unattended

with the engine running.

Maintenance and

adjustments

(Frequency : see maintenance booklet)

- Spark plug (resistive)

It is advisable to respect strictly the assembly
recommendations given by PEUGEOT.

Fitting of a spark plug other than that
recommended or failure to tighten it
properly will lead to the destruction of the
engine and the electronics.

- Manually tighten the spark plug and washer

attatched

- Using a spark plug wrench, tighten by 1/4

turn for a new spark plug, and between 1/8 to 1/4
turn if reused.

Brake *

(except integral braking)

PEUGEOT  recommends that you :
- Check the level of brake fluid
- Check the state of wear of the brake pads
or brake linings
- Monitor operation of your FRONT and REAR
brakes.
- Have adjustment and maintenance
operations performed by a PEUGEOT dealer
whenever action proves to be necessary
- Use PEUGEOT original parts only.

The hydraulic circuit is filled with fluid in compliance
with the PEUGEOT standard.

- The fluid level in the hydraulic control,
- The circuit seal,
- The state of the brake pads or brake linings,

If the brake lever appears “loose” when activated,
take the vehicle in for a service of the system by a
PEUGEOT dealer as quickly as possible.

- Braking and parking

Good coordination between the throttle and the
FRONT and REAR brakes is very important.

- Reduce your speed by allowing the throttle

to return.

- Pull on the rear and front brakes levers

Warning

Use of a single brake reduces braking
efficiency.
Excessive force applied to a single brake
may cause the corresponding wheel to lock,
causing you to lose control of the vehicle
and come off.
When driving down a steep slope, drop
back the throttle and use both brakes in
order to reduce your speed, enabling you to
maintain control of the vehicle. Avoid
constantly applying the brakes as excessive
heating will reduce braking efficiency and
may cause an accident.

- Adjustment of the rear
drum brake *

The brake clearance is the distance that

the lever can move before starting to actuate the
brake .

Adjusting the clearance

Clearance : 10 to 20 mm measured at the end of the
lever.

- Adjustment nut
   - To increase clearance                loosen
      - To reduce clearance                tighten

Brake wear sector

- Reference mark
   - Arrow

If the arrow faces the mark when the brake is actuated
fully, the brake blocks must be replaced.
