6.5 De-Ice Blocked Evaporator Coil
Use towels to absorb water to avoid damage to
the machine compartment or surrounding flooring.
Machine compartment condensate pan may
overflow if manually defrosted without the use of
towels.
1. Unplug or turn off power to the unit.
To access the evaporator:
Freezer:
Remove the bottom drawer (
see
) and then remove the false inner liner
bottom panel.
See Figure 6-8.
Wine:
Remove the bottom two or three shelves
(
) and then remove the false
inner liner bottom panel.
See Figure 6-9.1 and
6-9.2.
Refrigerator:
Remove the tip-out bin (
) and then remove the false inner liner bottom
panel.
See Figure 6-10.
2. Using a fan or heat gun, direct warm air over
the coil to melt the ice.
See Figure 6-11.
NEVER USE TOOLS OR SHARP OBJECTS
TO CHIP OR REMOVE ICE FROM THE
EVAPORATOR OR TUBES.
3. Once ice has been removed, review air
infiltration section (see
).
4. Reinstall components removed reversing the
removal instructions.
