Configuration of JETSTREAM 8500   &    MTSRD for AIX 4.2

This is a quick installation guide for MTSRD on an AIX 4.2 system, to enable a login
on a terminal on a JETSTREAM 8500 port.

Attach the JETSTREAM 8500 to the network and verify that it has an IP address,
broadcast address and subnet mask.

If not, add these using the following CLI commands, then reboot the

JETSTREAM.

set server internet 195.49.144.4
set server broadcast 195.49.144.255
set server subnet 255.255.255.0
save

On the AIX system, add the JETSTREAM to the host table using smit, type:

smit

 Then  select ‘Communications Applications & Services’, ‘ TCPIP’,’ Further
Configuration’, ‘ Name Resolution’, ‘Hosts table’ ,’ Add a host’

Install the mtsrd Software

   cd /
   installp -aX all

Configure the JETSTREAM Ports

   Log in to the JETSTREAM 8500 as admin, and type screen<cr>.

   Use ‘network configuration’, ‘host table’, ‘add host’ and enter the AIX host
   name and the TCP/IP address of this host to define the AIX host on the
   JESTREAM.

   Use ‘line configuration’ , ‘ line settings’ and select line 1

   Set the service to SILENT RAW, enter the HOSTNAME of the AIX system

 

   in the hostname field and set hostport to 10000

Set up further ports using hostport 10001 for line 2, hostport 10002 for line 3
and so on.
