To the left of the screen are four
Quick Buttons
and a speaker. The
speaker is located to the left of the Quick Buttons. The small, round
Menu Button
is located next to the upper right corner of the screen.
The diamond-shaped
Select Button
, surrounded by the four
Navigation Buttons
, is located to the right of the screen. At the right
end of the top of the Smart Module is the
Headphone Jack
. At the top
of the right side of the module are two
Volume Buttons
. The
USB
Port
is located at the bottom of the right side of the module.
Quick Buttons
The four black Quick Buttons are located to the left of
the video screen.
1. The first (top) Quick Button turns the screen on or off to aid with
practicing tactile braille, for privacy, or to save battery power. It is a
small, smooth, oval button.
2. The second (from the top) Quick Button toggles between two
screen display modes. It is an oval button with one raised line at the
bottom.
a. SimBraille mode shows six simulated braille cells, above their
corresponding print characters, in 42-point type.
b. In Large Print mode, the SimBraille is replaced by four large
print characters in 70-point type.
Both modes display a full line of 28 print characters at the bottom of
the screen in 12-point type. In Contracted Mode (see below), words
containing contractions are underlined.
