Piston and connecting rod assemblies

Big end bearing and cap

To remove and to fit

Operation 4-1

Caution: Ensure that the connecting rod bolts (2) do not damage the crankshaft when the connecting rod is
removed or fitted.

Notes:

l

The connecting rods and caps are numbered matched pairs and must be kept together when removed from
the engine. The numbers (1) must be aligned when assembled.

l

The piston and connecting rods are matched to a cylinder, record the position of each connecting rod and
piston for correct assembly. After the connecting rods are fitted check for axial movement.

l

The fuel adjustment screw must not be altered from the original setting. The maximum no load speed must
be checked after assembly.
