without a piece of sheet metal between the jaws.
ALWAYS fit a piece of sheet metal or some form of
divider between the cracks when the tool is not in
use. Grease the jaws with STP Oil Treatment
Maintenance
Clean the jaws after each completed task! Blowing
with compressed air or vacuuming is not enough.
The best way to maintain the sheet metal tool is to
disassemble the jaws and clean as follows:
1. Loosen 4 screws (# 25) to remove the jaw
attachment.
2. Remove jaws and V-Lock as a unit. Be observant
and do not drop the spring between the jaws.
3. Remove the suspension spring (# 23).
4. Clean the two jaws with cleaning fluid and a
brush. DO NOT use a wire brush or a circular wire
brush. Always brush in the same direction as the
teeth.
5. Clean the V-latch.
6. Lubricate between the jaws and the V-latch
use STP Oil Treatment oil additive and mount.
7. Lift out the lower jaws as a unit together with the
V-Latch. Clean these.
8. Replace the jaws. Make sure the big jaw is
opposite the small jaw. Then replace the V-Lock.
If the tool is not used for a long time, lightly oil the
jaws to prevent corrosion.
Note! Clean the jaws after each completion
task.
