5. Preparation for Operation
5.1. Using the test leads
Use only the identical type of test leads supplied with your meter.
These test leads are rated for 1000 V.
Cautions!
*
The maximum rating of your meter is 1000 V DC/AC. If you try
to measure voltages above 1000 V DC/AC
rms
, you might
damage your meter and expose yourself to a serious shock
hazard. Use extreme care when you measure high voltages.
*
Never connect the probe you plug into the COM terminal to a
source of voltage greater than 1000 V DC/AC with respect to
earth/ground. This creates a serious shock hazard.
5.2. Using the stand
Use your meter’s stand to prop up the meter. If you prop your meter
on a bench-top, the stand helps provide a better viewing angle.
To use the stand as a prop, just open it away from the meter and
set it on a flat surface.
5.3. Deactivate AUTO-POWER-OFF function
The AUTO-POWER-OFF function is used to turn off the unit
automatically after approx. 30 minutes, so it saves from fast
discharging the battery. Sometimes it can make sense to turn off
this function, mostly in PC mode for measurement over a longer
period of time. To turn off this function do as follows:
1. Turn off the meter
2.
Press and hold “SELECT” button
3. Turn on the meter
4.
Release the “SELECT” button after 7 seconds
The Auto-Power-Off function is reactivated automatically after next
power on.
