-
lift the pressure roller of the wire feed mechanism;
-
feed the free end of the wire through inlet channel 20 into the burner;
-
lower the clamping pressure and draw the welding wire between the rollers; the
clamping force of the rollers is indicated on the plastic holder. If you are a beginner
to this procedure, initially set it to the middle position (for an approximate value of
3);
-
use buttons 8 to set the required wire feed speed;
-
using button 7, draw the wire through the entire canal and readjust the final roller
clamping force as recommended for MIG/MAG welding. In the meantime, pay
particular attention to the coil brake clamping force: the coil must be minimally
clamped as required and rotate easily, but there should be no self-rotation.
ATTENTION:
If the coil brake mechanism is not fitted correctly, it may "self-tighten" as the
coil spins, which, after a short time, will lead to the wire being completely blocked and the
welding process interrupted. This should be double checked before threading the wire for
the first time;
If necessary, additional welding process functions can be adjusted at the wire source and wire feeder (see Section 6.1
for the switching sequence).
Do not forget to supply shielding gas! Use button 9 to check its presence in the handle duct:
when it is pressed, the wire is not fed. If you are a beginner and inexperienced in setting the
optimum pressure for welding a particular product, the first time the gas pressure can be set
higher than the optimum value of ~0.2 MPa. This will have little effect on the process, only
the shielding gas consumption will increase. However, in future, follow the general
recommendations for semi-automatic welding machines to save money. You should also
start with an average wire feed speed (~ 4 ... 6 m/min) and an average voltage on the source
(~ 19 V) for any wire diameter installed (Ø0.6 ... 1.2 mm), it may not be optimal, but the
machine should already be welding. For best results, adjust the voltage on the source using
buttons 2 and the wire feed speed using buttons 8 on the feeding unit, according to the
general recommendations for carrying out the welding process with semi-automatic
machines. Note that these parameters are different for each specific case.
