When the pen has been loaded with an ink cartridge it’s very important that you
put the pen back into its hat before the tip of the pen dries. Etching ink dries fast
and 30 seconds can be enough for the tip of the pen to start drying
Dry of the ink of the pen tip before you put it back into the pen hat. The pen hat
has a rubber sealing that gets very hard if it is too much ink on it. When this
happens it doesn’t seal of the air from the pen tip and the tip starts to dry.
To make the pen to last longer you should clean it when you know that you
shouldn’t use it for awhile.
Cleaning procedure
Step 1
Replace the ink cartridge with a
cleaning cartridge. Put the tip of the
pen in the cleaning pot and press out
half of the fluid in the cleaning
cartridge trough the pen.
Step 2
Leave the pen in the cleaning pot so
that the remaining fluid can clean the
pen. Press the remaining fluid through
the pen if there is any fluid left in the
cartridge after 1-2 hours.
Step 3
Remove the cleaning cartridge from
the pen and shake out the last fluid in
the pen on a piece of paper towel or
something similar. Dry the pen very
carefully and shake it by your ear so
that you can listen if the little ball still
is moving inside the pen.
Step 4
Remove the old pen hat and replace it
with a new one that came with the
cleaning cartridge. Put the pen back in
the hat and the cleaning procedure is
done.
