6.7 DNS
Domain Name System (DNS) servers map the user-friendly domain names that users type into their Web
browsers (such as "yahoo.com") to the equivalent numerical IP addresses that are used for Internet
routing.
When a user types a domain name into a browser, the browser sends a request to a DNS server to obtain
the equivalent IP address. The DNS server looks up the domain name in its own database, and
communicates with higher-level DNS servers when the name cannot be found locally. When the address
is found, it is sent back to the requesting PC and is referenced in IP packets for the remainder of the
communication.
If Enable Automatic Assigned DNS checkbox is selected, this router will accept the first received DNS
assignment from one of the PPPoA, PPPoE or MER/DHCP enabled PVC(s) during the connection
establishment. If the checkbox is not selected, enter the primary and optional secondary DNS server
IP addresses. Click
to save your changes.
NOTE: If changing from unselected Automatic Assigned DNS to selected Automatic Assigned DNS,
You must reboot the router to get the automatic assigned DNS addresses
