3.5.6. Fuser Temperature Control Circuit

IHON :

This is the IH power output control signal. When the IHON ( pin 68 of IC14 ) is a high, the current supplies from the IH power
board to the IH coil. The heat roller is heated.

IHPOWER

This signal is for controlling the IH power level which is supplied from the IH power board to the IH coil. IC14

DZCROS

This is the zero cross detection signal of AC input voltage.

VIN100V

There are 2 kinds ( power board for 100/120 VAC, power board for 220/230 VAC ) of the power supply unit for this printer. When
the 100V/200V power supply board is installed, the signal VIN100V is a low.

NCSAD

This is the chip select signal for the A/D converter on the IH power board.

SCLKAD

This is the A/D converter serial clock signal.

SDOAD

This is the A/D converter output data signal.

ADIAD

This is the A/D converter input signal.

This circuit controls the temperature of the fuser by turning the IH power on and off. To turn on the IH coil, IC14 outputs the high
level IHON (pin68 of IC14). The resistance of the thermistor varies based on the fuser temperature, which varies the voltage (
TH1HIGH, TH2HIGH ) inputted into pins 87 and 88 of IC1 (CPU). The CPU detects difference between these voltages and the
reference voltage recorded in the CPU, which controls the IHPOWER signal ( pin 67 of IC14 ). The IHPOWER signal is for
controlling the IH power output level. The IH power is varied by controlling the duty of IHPOWER. When the duty of IHPOWER is
heavy, the output from IH power is increased.

High Temperature Detection Circuit

This circuit is for detecting the abnormal high temperature of fuser. When the voltage of TH1HIGH (pin2 of IC6) is IC6 reference
voltage 0.60V or higher, the signal TH1HIGH (pin 179 of IC14) becomes a high level and IC (CPU) receives this information
through IC14. IC1 detects the fuser abnormal high temperature [210°C or more (200°C or more at preheat mode)], displays the
error message “Printer Error 41” and turns off the IH power.

Pressure Roller Temperature Detection Circuit

This circuit is for detecting the abnormal high temperature of pressure roller surface. The resistance of thermistor varies
depending on the pressure roller temperature, which changes the voltage (THFUSE) into pin 1 (IC15; Analog Switch)
