Index markers are electronic signals recorded onto the tape at the beginning of each recording.
They can be used in conjunction with the Index function to quickly locate the beginning of a recorded program.
For example, in the diagram above, if Recording 2 is currently being played back and you wish to search for the beginning of
Recording 1:
Press the INDEX button
Press the Rewind button twice
The Index counter at the top of the
screen will show

The VCR will start to rewind in search
mode.
First, the index marker at the start of the
second recording will be found, and the
Index counter will reduce to
01
.
The index marker at the start of the first
recording will then be found and
playback will be restarted.
Notes:
Pressing the record button while already recording will cause
another index marker to be recorded at the current position.
To allow the Index function to operate correctly, leave at least
five minutes between index markers.
The Index function can be operated while in Stop mode or
Playback mode, in either forward or backward directions.
