First-time Operation
Windows 2000

Turn your computer on.
Be sure to log on with the authority of an administrator.

Select [Disk Management] in [Start] - [Settings] - [Control Panel] - [Administrative
Tools] - [Computer Management] - [Storage].

When [Welcome to the Write Signature and Upgrade Disk Wizard] is displayed,
select [Next].

At [Select Disk to Write Signature], add the check mark for [Disk 1] and select [Next].

At [Select Disks to Upgrade], remove the check mark for [Disk 1] and then select [Next].

Select [Finish].

Click the right side of [Disk 1] with the right button and select [Create Partition].
Follow the on-screen instructions.

Select [My Computer].

Click [D:]
(or the drive letter of a newly created drive)
with the right button
and select [Format].
If you select the FAT32 file-system format, the computer may not format a 30 GB
partition.
In this case, reduce the size of the partition.

Select [Start].

When the operation completes, be sure to select [Start] - [Shut Down] and restart the
computer before using the second hard disk.
Windows XP

Turn your computer on.

Select [Disk Management] in [Start] - [Control Panel] - [Performance and Mainte-
nance] - [Administrative Tools] - [Computer Management] - [Storage].

When [Welcome to the Initialize and Convert Disk Wizard] is displayed, select [Next].

At [Select Disks to Initialize], add the check mark for [Disk 1] and select [Next].

At [Select Disks to Convert], remove the check mark for [Disk 1] and then select [Next].

Select [Finish].

Click the right side of [Disk 1] with the right button and select [New Partition].
Follow the on-screen instructions.

Select [Start] - [My Computer].
