show a little arrow when the card is being accessed 
and a slash across the icon when there is no card in 
the SD slot.

Remaining time

. Tells you how much recording 

time is available on the card based on the current 
recording settings. is is only an estimate.

. Displays the ratio of the digital 

zoom setting. Digital zoom should be avoided.

Recording format

. Indicates the recording format 

settings of the camera as set in the menus.

Information

. Various things are displayed in this 

area depending on the situation: Performance of 
the auto white balance or the auto black balance; 
Warnings (see page 79 in the manual); e ND 
filter recommended under the 
current shooting conditions;. AWB error message 
(LOW LIGHT / LEVEL OVER), (see page 39 of 
the manual); e functions allocated to the USER 
buttons are displayed in this area while you hold 
down the DISP/ MODE CHK button.

Expanded display

. Let’s you know the expanded 

display is in effect. As if you did not already know 
that given the expanded quantity of information.

ALC

. Let’s you know that Automatic Level 

Control (Audio Limiter) is engaged (adjusted with 
the MIC ALC setting in the RECORDING 
SETUP menu).

Marker luminance level

. When the marker (spot 

meter) is in effect, tells you the luminance level of 
the scene within the marker boundaries, 0% 
corresponding to black, 50% corresponding to 
middle grey, and 100% corresponding to pure 
white.

Date and time.

 e date and time are displayed 

in the form: mmm dd yyy hh:mm:ss

Frame rate.

 Indicates the frame rate the camera is 

currently recording at, it is not displayed when the

 Indicates the frame rate the 

camera is currently recording at, it is not displayed 
when the camera is recording 1080/60i.

Audio level meter

. Indicates the level of the 

incoming audio signal. Refer to the earlier 
discussion of setting levels.

Auto iris control

. Displays the automatic iris 

control setting: STD: Standard auto-iris control; 
SPOT: Auto iris control for spotlight; BACK: 
Auto iris control for backlight.

Iris setting

. Displays the current f/stop (aperture 

setting) of the lens. Avoid shooting at small 
apertures like f/11 and f/16 (use the ND filters to 
shoot at larger apertures).

Zoom position

. Displays the current focal length 

setting of the lens, Z00 (maximum wide-angle to 
Z99 (maximum zoom). e units displayed can be 
changed to more filmmaker-friendly units of 
millimeters (mm) in the ZOOM & FOCUS item 
of the setting DISPLAY SETUP menu.

Focus position

. Displays the focus position of the 

lens using a range of ridiculous units from 99 to 
00. 95 indicates the focal distance is at infinity, 
while 00 indicates the focal distance: is 
approximately 5 cm.  AF indicates auto focus 
mode. MF indicates manual focus mode. When 
the display is set to macro, the black and white AF 
or MF is displayed white on black instead. 
Depending on the zoom position, the macro range 
may not be enabled. Also, depending on the zoom 
position, the lower limit value of macro range may 
be different. e units can be switched to the 
much more filmmaker friendly units of feet or 
meters in the ZOOM & FOCUS item of the 
DISPLAY SETUP menu.

Index/shot mark recording

. Displayed when the 

INDEX or SHOT MARK function was pressed 
during recording. INVALID will be displayed if an 
index or shot mark cannot be attached. is only 
works if you’ve assigned the index function to one 
of the USER buttons.

ND filter

. Displays which ND filter is currently 

engaged.

22.

Gain

. Displays the current video gain setting. 

When in automatic mode, AGC is displayed.

23.

White balance

.  Displays the white balance 

setting as follows: ATW: Automatic Tracking 
White Balance (ATW) is active; P3.2K: preset of 
3200K tungsten is active; P5.6K: preset of 5500K 
daylight is active; Ach: user preset A is active; Bch: 
user preset B is active; LOCK: ATW is currently 
locked.
