PA-7050 PAN-AIRDUCT INSTALLATION GUIDE (CONTINUED)

7. Attach the top and bottom rear brackets that secure the rear of the
chassis to the top and bottom air ducts. Each rear bracket uses five M4 X
8mm screws to secure the rear bracket to the chassis and four 10-32 X
.750 screws to secure the rear brackets to the air duct. See Figure 5.

8. Fully tighten the 2-Post bracket screws, chassis bracket screws, and rear
bracket screws to the torque specified in the Parts List.
9. Using two to three people (mechanical lift recommended), position the
assembled unit into the 2-Post rack and then secure the rack brackets
to the rack using eight 12-24 X .750 or 10-32 X .750 Phillips Pan Head
screws (depending on the rack thread type) per side. See Figure 6. If the
rack has square holes, use the 10-32 screws and 10-32 cage nuts.
6. Attach the 2-Post brackets to each side of the air ducts (one left and one
right) using six 8-32 X .375 Phillips Pan Head screws at each mount point.
Each mount point uses three screws inserted into the adjustable holes, as
shown in Figure 4.

10. If you removed any of the front-slot components from the chassis,
reinstall them and then reconnect cables and power on the chassis.
The 2-Post PAN-AIRDUCT is NEBS level 3-compliant, including
zone 4 seismic-compliant.

5. Install the bottom air duct (with the air intake at the front) into the 4-Post rack by securing
the front of the rack rails using four 12-24 X .750 or 10-32 X .750 Phillips Pan Head
screws (depending on the rack thread type) to each of the two mount points of the rack.
See Figure 9. From the rear of the rack, slide the rear part of the rack rails into the front
part of the rail and secure to the rack using the same number and type of rack mount
screws. If the rack has square holes, use the 10-32 screws and 10-32 cage nuts.
Before installing the chassis on the bottom mounted air duct, ensure that all rack
mount screws are properly installed and tightened based on the torque specified in
the Parts List.
A properly installed bottom air duct can temporarily support the chassis.

Install in a 4-Post Rack
1. Ensure that the existing PA-7050 chassis brackets are in the front-mount position, as shown in Figure 2.
When installing groups of screws for a given component, insert each screw first and partially tighten it to ensure
the screws are properly aligned. You can then fully tighten based on the torgque specified in the Parts List.
2. Attach the top and bottom rear brackets that secure the rear of the chassis to the top and bottom air ducts. For this
step, only attach the rear brackets to the PA-7050 firewall chassis using five M4 X 8mm screws, as shown in Figure 7.
You can perform this step after installing the air ducts, but the screws that secure the rear brackets to the chassis may
be difficult to install if the device is located at the very top or bottom of the rack.

3. Remove the rear section of each 4-Post rack rail by sliding the rear rail away
from the front rail. The rear part of the rail will be installed after you install the
air ducts into the 4-Post rack.
4. Attach the front part of the 4-Post rack rail to the sides of the top and bottom
air ducts. Each air duct requires one 4-Post rack rail on each side (4 total), each
secured with six 8-32 X .375 Phillips Pan Head screws. See Figure 8.
6. While facing the front of the PA-7050 firewall, carefully rotate the chassis 90 degrees to the right (clockwise) and
lay it on its side (power supplies on the left) and then place the chassis on top of the bottom air duct. See Figure 10.
Ensure that the rear brackets hang over the rear of the bottom air duct. Be careful not to damage the gasket located
between the chassis and air duct.
7. Secure the bottom chassis bracket to the air duct using four 10-32 X .750 Phillips Pan Head screws, as shown in
Figure 10.
8. Place the top air duct on top of the chassis and then slide the rear part of the 4-Post rack rail into the front part of the
rail.
9. Secure the rack rails to the rear of the rack using four 12-24 X .750 or 10-32 X .750 Phillips Pan Head screws
(depending on the rack thread type) to each of the four mount points of the rack. See Figure 7. If the rack has square
holes, use the 10-32 screws and the 10-32 cage nuts.
10. Secure the upper chassis brackets to the top air duct using four 10-32 X .750 Phillips Pan Head screws, as shown in
Figure 7.
11. Install the remaining rear bracket screws to the back of the top and bottom air ducts using four 10-32 X .750 screws,
as shown in Figure 7.
12. If you removed any of the front-slot components from the chassis, reinstall them and then reconnect the cables and
power on the chassis.
