How the PackTite Passive Bed Bug Monitor works
The PackTite Passive is an early warning system designed to exploit a bed bugs own
habits and biology. By providing bed bugs with an ideal harborage area, it is possible to
quickly and effectively monitor the presence or absence of bed bugs in a commercial or
residential setting.
The monitor is divided into two section: the
harborage area
and the
detection area
.
PackTite Passive may indicate a bed bug infestation one or more of three ways:
•
Live bed bugs in or about the monitor. (See above left)
•
Cast skins on or about the monitor. As bed bugs grow, they shed their
exoskeleton and leave a yellow or white paper-thin “cast” skin behind.
•
Fecal spotting on or about the monitor. (See above right)
The size and shape of the harborage area forces adult bedbugs to defecate before they
can enter. The white color of the detection area provides contrast for these dark spots.
