Effects of Atmospheric Pressure
At lower atmospheric pressures, such as those found in high altitudes, the
concentration of alcohol in vapour can be affected.
It is important to note that sensitivity of the
AlcoVUE
®
instrument to alcohol is
NOT affected, only the concentration of alcohol in the vapour.
In light of this, suitable corrections should be performed to compensate for this
when calibrating in areas of reduced atmospheric pressure.

An
AlcoVUE

test result of 0.100%BAC conducted at an elevation height of 500ft. above sea
level would have a Correction Factor (multiplier) of 0.981.
i.e. 0.100%BAC x 0.981 = 0.0981%BAC
