Install the Upgrade Preparation File
1.
Log out of all
iSCSI initiators
and disconnect any
Fibre Channel connections
to the REO 9100 before
installing the upgrade file.
2.
In the REO GUI, click
Maintenance
, then click
Update System
).

3.
Click
Browse
, and navigate to the
file
you downloaded
previously (
REO9100_serial.upgrade
).
4.
Click
Update
to complete the preparation process

The REO 9100 will shut down when the preparation
process is complete. Before continuing with the
upgrade procedure, wait one minute to make sure the
appliance has shut down completely (all the appliance
lights are off).
Disconnect the REO 9100
1.
Disconnect the four
power cords
.
WARNING: The power is NOT fully off unless the
power cords are disconnected.
2.
Disconnect all
data cables
(network, expansion, and
fibre channel).
3.
Remove the
USB Softkey
from the appliance.
NOTE: The REO 9100c does not require a USB Softkey, so
the softkey will not be reinstalled. If the REO 9100 is already
running Protection OS 5.x, the USB Softkey will have already
been removed.
Remove Appliance from Rack (If Installed)
WARNING: It is recommended that a mechanical lifter
(or at least two people) be used to prevent injury during
rack installation or removal.
1.
Remove all
screws
holding the appliance to the rack
rails and set the screws aside.
2.
Keeping the appliance parallel to the floor, pull the
appliance out of the
rack
and place it on an ESD
surface.
Remove Cover
1.
Remove and retain
the eight screws holding the top
cover in place.
2.
Remove the
top cover
.
Remove Stabilization Bar (If Present)
1.
Remove the
screw
holding the stabilization bar

2.
Loosen the
hold down clamps
and rotate them out of
the way.
3.
Lift the
bar
with the clamps out of the chassis and set
them aside.
Disconnect the REO 9100
