WARNING: To prevent electric shock, make
sure the lamp is not plugged in until all
assembly steps are complete.
LAMP ASSEMBLY
1. Remove lamp from packing and place the
base (A) on a steady surface.
2. To install lamp body (B) into base (A), turn
the assembly upside down then install the flat
washer (P) and screw (Q) into the lamp dowel
through the base. Turn clockwise to tighten
with a screwdriver until snug. Screewdriver not
included. Set the assembly rightside up on a
firm surface.
3. To install the shade (E), align the notch of
the shade with the tab of the socket housing
then push it back into the socket assembly
making sure the shade “snaps” into place.
4. Refer to BULB INSTALLATION AND
REMOVAL to install bulb (C) into lamp. Also,
refer to BULB INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL
for removal and replacement of shade (E).
5. Plug the cord into a standard 120Vac outlet.
6. To turn the lamp on or off depress the
rocker switch (H) located in the cord mounted
power box.
7. To adjust the position of shade (E) simply
grasp the shade with one hand while holding
the support arms (G). The shade (E) can rotate
around the socket or move up and down at
socket joint (O).
NOTE: DO NOT try to move the shade (E)
beyond the limits of socket joint (O) as lamp
damage may occur.
8. To raise or lower the magnifier (D), grasp
the support arms (G) and gently move them
up or down.
9. To rotate the magnifier (D), grasp the sup-
port arms (G) with one hand and move the
magnifier (D) into position. The magnifier can
also be rotated horizontally.
10. The lamp body joint (M) may be tightened
by turning the thumbscrew (J) clockwise. To
prevent damaging the lamp, DO NOT USE
A TOOL to turn the thumbscrew (J) or apply
excessive force.
11. The socket joint (O) may be tightened by
turning the thumbscrew (F) clockwise. To
prevent damaging the lamp, DO NOT USE
A TOOL to turn the tension nut (F) or apply
excessive force.
NOTE: If the magnifier support arm on
body (G) becomes loose, use a coin to
tighten the two knobs (R) located near the
bottom of the support arm. To prevent dam-
aging the lamp, DO NOT OVERTURN the
screws or apply excessive force.
TUBE INSTALLATION/REMOVAL
1. Make sure that the lamp is not plugged into
an electrical outlet.
2. If the lamp has been in use, allow it to cool
approximately five minutes before proceeding.
3. Rotate the shade (E) so that the notch in the
base of the shade is positioned over the tab
located on the socket assembly.
4. Remove the shade (E) by pulling it straight
out from the socket assembly.
5. To remove a tube (C) already installed in the
lamp, grasp it firmly in your hand, and pull it
straight out of the socket. DO NOT TWIST OR
BEND THE TUBE WHILE REMOVING IT FROM
THE SOCKET.
6. To install a tube (C) in the socket, grasp
the bulb firmly in your hand, position the bulb
so that the pins are aligned with the socket
receptacles then push the tube straight into the
socket until it “snaps” into place.
7. To replace the shade (E), align the notch of
the shade with the tab of the socket housing
then push it back into the socket assembly
making sure the shade “snaps” into place.
Please note that in operation, OttLite
®
tubes
are not dimmable.
