Barbeque

The barbecue is mounted on the aft starboard railing. Attach a propane bottle to the regulator. Carefully
light the unit with a butane lighter. The barbecue generates a lot of heat and cooks hot and fast. Please clean
up the BBQ when finished using it to prevent grease and dirt from soiling the boat.

Note: Propane bottles

are not stocked by AYC. You will need to purchase one if extras are not found on board.

Caution -- For safety reasons, do not store an opened propane bottle within the salon or engine
compartment. Chances are these will leak slightly once opened and propane gas could settle into low spaces.
Store these bottles in the lazarette. Ensure flammable materials are not near the barbecue.

HEATING SYSTEMS

 Diesel Furnace

Otter

is equipped with a Dickinsen diesel forced air furnace. The furnace provides heat much like that of a

wood stove (consistent and quiet). The air outlet vents are in the aft stateroom and salon. The furnace burns
very little fuel and has minimal drain on the batteries.

Before using, remove the solid stainless cap on the stove pipe on the cabin top. Locate the stove pipe
extension and Charlie Noble stove pipe cap in the hanging locker next to the furnace. Place these on
the stove pipe.

Always use the stove pipe extension when motoring and when at dock or anchor.
Always remove the extension and use only the Charlie Noble when sailing to prevent
snagging the stove pipe with the sail sheets.
One can use gloves to remove the stove pipe without shutting down the furnace. Be
careful as it is hot. Place partway  in the white stove pipe carrier to cool on the cabin
top before returning to the locker.

To turn on furnace:

1.

Turn on the power switch (up direction) to the fuel pump that feeds the furnace. It is located on
the inside the hanging locker next to the furnace on the aft side of the door. This switch must be
left on while using the furnace. When using the furnace, you may hear a slight clicking sound
from under the seat cushion forward of the galley sink.
