1. Pull the SmartDosing dial upawards to release: Place hands on hinge and proximal edge
and gently pull brace over knee.
2. Align the brace on the leg of the patient with patella centered within kneecap mark.
3. Trim the strap as needed by detaching the alligator clip, cutting to ideal the length and
reattaching the clip. Tighten above the thickest part of the calf muscle and ensure the brace
does not rotate on leg while tightening.
4. Press the SmartDosing dial and rotate clockwise until Strap Adjustment Clip is at the 0 mark.
With patient in standing position, adjust the length of both DFS straps by detaching
them from the strap adjustment clips, and trimming to appropriate length, then re-attach.
Appropriate length is a snug fit without tension. Tighten DFS straps by rotating SmartDosing
dial clockwise, with patient in standing position and knee slightly bent. A Correct DFS strap
length will contribute to the right amount of unloading as you turn the SmartDosing dial.
This will allow the user to add or reduce tension as needed during daily use. If SmartDosing
dial has been adjusted to the maximum setting (10) and patient requires more pain relief,
DFS straps need to be shortened further.
5. Verify positioning of the brace when adjustment procedure has been completed.
6. Pull the dial upward to release and loosen DFS Straps and Calf Strap.
Remove brace by gently pulling on hinge.
