Installation Sequence

Use the following guidelines to help ensure a smooth and error-free installation. The installation sequence is
divided into three phases: planning, installation, and startup.

First Trip to Site: Planning Phase

Consult with the contractor and go over all ORTAL requirements:

x

Chase and framing requirements

x

Drywall or noncombustible inside the chase

x

Air intake and heat release

x

Access panel size and location

x

Gas and electric specs and location

x

Flueing configuration

x

Finishing details

Second Trip to Site: Installation Phase

x

Confirm the framing and platform are built to spec.

x

Confirm gas valve is in the correct location.

x

Confirm access panel location and size.

x

Confirm air intake and heat release locations.

x

Make sure there is a clear path to carry in the unit.

x

Uncrate the unit and set in place.

x

Use the shipping bracket for the legs and seismic brackets to level and secure the unit (see note
below).

x

Cut off ALL the zip ties.

x

Move the components to the access panel location. Be mindful of the routing for future service needs.

x

Install the flueing components per the flueing

manufacturer’s instructions and ORTAL requirements.

x

Go over the infill panel requirements and finishing details with the contractor.

x

Protect the fireplace and components from damage.

SECURING THE UNIT: Use the supplied seismic brackets and leg shipping brackets to secure and level the

fireplace. If necessary, the brackets can be extended with similar steel components.
It is crucial to the finishing that the unit is stable, level and plumb. The legs are zero clearance. Wood shims are
acceptable.

Third Trip to Site: Startup Phase

Perform a visual inspection to confirm that all work was completed per ORTAL specifications.

x

Confirm that gas is properly connected and live.

x

Remove the safety barrier and glass.

x

Clean the inside of the unit.

x

Confirm operation and remote control setup.

x

Set up the media per ORTAL specifications.
