Component Serviceability Requirements
System components are hot, warm, or cold-serviceable components, and are customer-
replaceable units (CRU) or field-replaceable units (FRU). See “Preparing the Server for
Component Replacement” on page 101 .

Hot service components can be serviced while the server is powered on and running in Main
power mode.
■
Warm service components can be serviced while the server is in Standby power mode.
You can remove and replace CMODs, DIMMs, and processors and heatsinks without
disconnecting the back panel power cords or shutting down Oracle ILOM.
■
Cold service components must be serviced when the server is completely powered off and
all four AC power cords are disconnected from the server back panel AC power block.
A CRU or FRU designation determines who is qualified to service a component.
■
CRUs can be serviced by customers.
■
FRUs must be serviced by qualified Oracle Service personnel.

the replacement instructions.
