8.5.5 Precaution in handling the engine

q

Cooling

1). This optical engine is provided with a DC fan for air suction (for cooling).Pay

due attention to proper ventilation and air stream so that adequate cooling effect

can be attained.

2). NEVER turn ON the lamp with the DC fan OFF. The DC fan is provided with a

sensor output terminal to check the status of operation. Use the terminal to design

so that the lamp cannot be turned ON unless the DC fan is started.

3). When a dust filter set at the ventilation port is clogged, airflow will lower, which

raises the temperature inside and cause damage to the optical parts or the like.

q

Lamp

1). The reflector is extremely high in light converging ability. If it is not laid in

place, damage caused by overheating will result. Design so that the lamp power

source will not turn on useless the lamp is set in place.

2). Do not look straight at the lamp while it is ON or immediately after it turns OFF,

for ultraviolet ray is emitted therefrom.

3). Power supply to the optical engine alone (without connecting with the electric

circuit) is to be strictly avoided, for, otherwise, there is risk of lamp rupture due

to overheating.

4). Never touch the lamp lighting bulb or the reflector with bare hands, or it is likely

to cause failure or shorten its life.

q

Countermeasure against static electricity

1). Work by using bare hands or wearing non-electrostatic gloves.

2). Do not touch the electrodes.

3). Wear anti-electrostatic clothes and conductive shoes.

4). Do not bring a charged matter near the panel or electrode.

5). Before handling the panel, de-electrify it with ionized air.

q

Others

1). This optical engine has its optical parts such as dichroic mirrors and mounted

the proper angles. Do not attempt to move them.
