However, it is advised to follow the setup procedure described below to verify that all communication parameters are
valid and that the physical cable connections are correct.
The setup procedure consists of three consecutive stages:
1. Connecting the X1 Power Supply
2. Connecting the USB Modem device
3. Connecting to the PC via Ethernet or Wi-Fi

Setting up WAN and LAN connections
• WAN Connection: Setting up the WAN connection requires that a USB Modem is inserted correctly into the USB
port of the GlobeSurfer
®
X.1. With the USB Modem in place you configure the WAN connection through the Wizard

X.1 you will have to enter a user name and
password, these are printed on the manufacturing label at the base of the GlobeSurfer
®
X.1, unless pre-configured
for you prior to purchase.
• LAN Connection: Your computer can connect to the gateway in two ways, either through Ethernet or through the
use of Wireless. The most common type of connection is Ethernet. Use an Ethernet cable to connect between an
Ethernet port on your gateway and your computer.

is intended for use only when powered by the external power supply shipped
together with the equipment or via the USB “Y-Cable” power accessory (sold separately), available from
your operator. The use of any other power supply may invalidate regulatory approval of this equipment.
Refer to the table below for applicable power supplies.

X.1 is intended for indoor use only and its interconnection points shall not be connected
outside of any premises (i.e. outside of any buildings). Refer to the table below for each interconnection
point found in this user instruction.

X.1 is regarded a class III equipment where protection against electric shock is provided by
means of power supplied from SELV circuit i.e. external power supply and does not generate hazardous
voltages within itself.
