9.4 SETTING UP THE DIRECT ETHERNET CONNECTION TO THE
EXTERNAL PC
In order to communicate with the Keratron™ Nova, via the directly connected
Ethernet LAN "crossed" cable, the network connection must be properly configured
on the external PC that will be running the Keratron™ Scout software.
Therefore, both the network configuration on the PC, and the similar settings within
the Keratron™ Nova must be appropriately taken into account.
9.4.1 SETTING PERSONAL COMPUTER IN WINDOWS XP
In the case of Windows XP, starting from the desktop, select the sequence:
Start → Settings → Control Panel → Network Connections
At the end will appear one or more icons of the network connections on your PC
(figure 9-1). Using the right mouse button, you should select the icon for the network
card you want to use to communicate with Keratron™ Nova. Highlight the
Properties
item in the contextual menu that appears.

In figure 9-2 a sample network connection is shown. On the General folder, select
"Internet Protocol (TCP / IP)" as in step 1 and click the
Properties
button (2).
