Telephotography and digiscoping is easy to enjoy using Opticron fieldscopes in combination with a range of
imaging devices. If you are thinking about taking photos and video through your fieldscope we currently offer the
following options:
1. Telephotography with an SLR, DSLR or compact system camera.
In this system the camera lens is substituted for the
fiel telephotoadapter or fiel eyepiece
+ photoadapter. To convert your ES fieldscope to a
1250mm
1
/f.12.5 telephoto lens, you will need a 40215
telephotoadapter or suitable push fit photoadapter for your
viewing eyepiece.
2
A T-mount is required to connect the assembly to the
camera body.
1
This is an approximate figure based on 35mm SLR cameras.
DSLR/compact system cameras use different sized image sensors
compared to 35mm so an equivalent telephoto conversion figure
must be calculated separately.

Telephotography and Digiscoping pages at www.opticron.co.uk
2. Phonescoping with a suitable smartphone and the USM-2.
The USM-2 offers a simple, flexible way of connecting your smartphone to your telescope
eyepiece and recording video or taking photos. The mount features a plate with adjustable
clamps to position and hold the smartphone on one side. On the other is an adjustable 3 pin
clamp that fixes over the eyepiece.
