Offset in Z axis depends on focus distance of the laser and distance between nozzle
tip and
front-face surface of the laser head. Cause this second distance equals 15mm,
hence
:
𝑍
𝑜𝑓𝑓𝑠𝑒𝑡
= 15 − 𝑓𝑜𝑐𝑢𝑠 𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒
The lens of PLH3D-2W are focused at 60mm when shipped. So in newly
manufactured laser head, value of the offset in Z axis is:
𝑍
𝑜𝑓𝑓𝑠𝑒𝑡
= 15 − 60 = −45
Precautions
Wear safety glasses when cable connected the 3D printer and the laser head is
plugged (not only when the laser actually works).
There should be always command M0 used after home command (G28) in G-Code,
to give user opportunity to prepare material on bed and connect laser head.
3D printer’s bed should be
covered during laser work, to protect it from damage.
