Item Description
1 Expansion card slot Slot#3, designated for expansion card only.
2 PCIe switch & heat sink This is the main chip / component. Utilized a point-to-point serial interconnect standard
protocol, connects a single PCI Express port from a processor or chipset to multiple end-points.
A PCI express switch is a device that switches PCI express (PCIe) buses on motherboards of
computers or similar applications. PCIe is a switch-based technology used to interconnect a
large number of peripheral devices to a processor system.
3 3 PCIe slots All three slots are x8 electrically, x16 mechanically. It can accommodate x1, x2, x4, and x8
and x16-form factor PCIe cards.
4 LINK UP Led Displays the correct LED when host computer and expansion are linked up or connected.
5 Fan Control switch This feature is not available with this model. Allows you to control the fan speed.
6 Power & Standby LEDs Displays the correct LEDs when power is good, when the expansion unit is powered up
correctly. Standby LEDs: Signifies that there is power going to the board but the device is
switched off or not performing their primary function.
7 Serial numbers Identification number for the expansion board
8 Power Button header Connector for the front power LED
9 Fan Power connectors Connector for the front fan
10 12 v AUX To allow for additional power from the supply to the motherboard, Intel modified the ATX
specification to add a second auxiliary power connector for high power-drawing ATX
motherboards and 250-watt or higher rated supplies.
The criteria are such that, if the motherboard could draw more than 18 A of +3.3 V power or
more than 24 A of +5 V power, the auxiliary connector is required to carry the additional load.
These higher levels of power are needed in systems using 250- or 300-watt or greater supplies.
