Installation and Operation
This item utilizes the power of the Sun to provide light. During daylight hours,
solar energy is converted into electricity by the Solar Panel on top of the item. This
electrical energy is stored in the AA NiCad battery. The stored energy powers the
light.
The Thermometer operates continuously, and requires no outside power.
1.
The Ground Stakes must be
installed. Slide each of the 4
Ground Stakes into the grooves
molded in the base of the
Thermometer. Be sure they are
all the way into the grooves and
the tab at the bottom of each
Stake catches the edge of the
base.
2.
Open the Battery Case, and
remove the insulating tab from the
Battery. See page 5 for instructions on opening the Battery Case.
3.
Select a location where the Thermometer will be easily visible, but will be out
of the way of traffic. This location must be on ground soft enough to embed the
Ground Stakes. There must be sufficient sunlight at this location during the
day to power the solar cell. CAUTION: Always wear safety gloves and ANSI
approved safety goggles when installing this item. Glass components may
break causing injury.
4.
It may be necessary to soften the earth where the Thermometer will be installed.
5.
Press the Ground Stakes straight down into the earth, keeping the Thermometer
in a full upright position, with the face of the thermometer facing the desired
direction.
6.
Tamp the earth down around the Ground Stakes to fix the Thermometer firmly in
position.
7.
If you want the light to come on at night, move the Slide Switch to the ON position.
If you do not want the light to come on, move the Slide Switch to the OFF
position.
8.
A photo Cell on the top of the item will prevent the light from illuminating during
the day. When it becomes dark, this cell will signal the light to turn on, if the
Slide Switch is in the ON position.
