Parameter Read/Write (Class 64 hex)
Explicit messages can be used to read and write inverter parameters.
The CompoNet Communications Unit provides the Instance and Attribute registers corresponding to
each parameter of the inverter in Class64 hex (100 dec). According to the following instructions, set
parameters in the corresponding Class, Instance, and Attribute registers to issue an Explicit Message.
The service codes that support the Parameter Read/Write object (Class 64 hex) are shown below.
Inverter parameter can take data in two sizes, single-word (16-bit) data and double-word (32-bit) data.
Fit the size appropriately to each Attribute data size (each Modbus Register No.) to send/receive data
to/from Class 64 hex using Explicit Message.
If the data size is inappropriate, you will receive an error response to the Explicit Message. Check the
error code attached to the error response to correct the data size.
Single-word Parameters
Most inverter parameters take single-word data, although some parameters take double-word data.
Be sure to handle data as single-word data even if it is a small value such as 0 or 1.
Double-word Parameters
For double-word (32-bit) parameters such as the frequency reference and multi-step position com-
mand, two Attributes (each Modbus Register No.) are allocated. Use these Attributes (each Modbus
Register No.) as appropriate as follows.
• The high-level Attribute (each Modbus Register No.) indicated as HIGH takes double-word data.
Data must be always all sent/received at the double-word (32-bit) size to/from this Attribute,
regardless of the value to be sent.
• The low-level Attribute (each Modbus Register No.) indicated as LOW takes single-word data. If
the setting range "0 to 65535" is sufficient, this Attribute can be used for a single-word data.
When writing data, set the high-level Attribute to "0000".
When reading data, an error will be detected if the value is larger than "65535". In this case, use
the high-level Attribute indicated as HIGH to handle it as double-word (32-bit) data.
