Product Description
The 218SUB is a very high output, high definition, passive subwoofer
designed for both portable and fixed installation applications requiring
very high output at the lowest frequencies while maintaining low
distortion. It is part of OEM’s full line of CX Series premium
loudspeakers which are designed to provide unmatched sonic quality
at very high sound pressure levels.
OEM Audio has designed the 218SUB with a two high quality 18” long
excursion cast frame woofers with 4” edge wound high temperature
resistant voice coils. This enables the 218SUB to produce sustained
high levels of low frequency output while efficiently dissipating heat to
improve long term reliability and reduce power compression.
Additionally, the 218SUB woofers have specially designed Kevlar
reinforced cone which provides consistent sonic performance when
driven at even the highest levels.
Two NL4 connectors are provided for input and loop output which are
mounted into the enclosure’s recessed rear plate.
The cabinet design of the 218SUB allow for quick and easy
transportation and setup. Four sets of 1/4

20 threaded inserts are
located on the rear of the cabinet in each of its four corners for
mounting casters or other transportation hardware.
Four heavy duty, powder
-
coated steel handles are integrated into the
sides of the enclosure at its center of gravity to lower the effort of
transporting and setting up the 218SUB.
The enclosure is made of void
-
free, multi
-
ply Baltic birch plywood with
optimized bracing to minimize resonances and improve damping. The
218SUB enclosure provides the strength and durability needed for a
high degree of reliability whether it is used in portable or fixed
installation applications.
The 218SUB addresses a wide range of subwoofer applications from
live sound to commercial installations due to its very high output, high
reliability and excellent sonic characteristics. It can be used with any
of the CX full range loudspeaker models to create a variety of
complete and sonically matched sound systems.
