2 Description of the appliance
2.1 Function
The heat pump converts low temperature heat
(e.g. heat from the ground) into heat of higher
temperatures (heating water). The heat pump ex-
tracts from the ambience the stored solar energy
and returns this, plus drive energy (electricity for
the compressor) in the form of heat to the heating
and hot water circuits. The system consists of sep-
arate circuits, which are coupled by means of a
heat exchanger.

2.1.1 Refrigerant circuit
The refrigerant circuit consists of:
•
plate heat exchanger as evaporator
•
compressor, mounted on a noise and vibration
dampening thick metal plate
•
plate heat exchanger as condenser
•
dryer, refrigerant sump, expansion valve,
safety equipment
•
chlorine-free, non-flammable safety refriger-
ant and bio-degradable special compressor oil

2.2 Heat pump
The heat pumps models AQUA and TERRA are
compact appliances for indoor installation.
The heat pump is suitable for
inside installation and NOT for outside
installation
The heat extraction (heat source circuit) takes
place, depending on the type) via its own brine cir-
cuit, for instance ground heat systems: from flat-
plate collectors, deep trench (Künette) collectors,
ground probes or a well as the heat source)
The heat pump of the AQUA and TERRA series
function usually in a monovalent heating opera-
tion. The heat pumps can, however, be combined
at any time with a further heat generator.
2.2.1 Construction
2.2.2 Compressor
The fully hermetic SCROLL compressors are spe-
cially designed for heat pump use, i.e. for the high-
est loading. Various important constructive
measures protect the compressor, both under
normal operative conditions as well as overload-
ing. The compressors used by OCHSNER have the
highest performance and are the most durable.
The SCROLL compressors have only a few moving
parts and have no dynamic suction or pressure
valves. Furthermore, they are distinguished by a
very low vibration and noise level.
2.2.3 Housing
A profile frame, corrosion protected and with
elegant cladding plates. The complete cladding is
fitted with noise-dampening mats. A special load-
bearing noise-reducing underlay is supplied with
the heat pump.
