SETUP AND OPERATION
1)
The standalone application is an executable file and does not require installation. The VSTi version is the DLL
file and needs to be placed in your DAW's VST folder in order to be recognized within your DAW. Both 64 and
32 bit versions are provided, use the appropriate one. The standalone application allows for control over VST
plugins and native plugins inside your DAW as well as external hardware. The VSTi version only allows for
control over external hardware in most DAWs.
In order for the device to work as a VSTi plugin the hosting DAW must support MIDI plugins!
2)
Regardless of the controller you will be using, you MUST install the official Microsoft Xbox 360 controller
drivers on your computer. You can find the drivers via the Microsoft website. As of this writing detailed
instructions from Microsoft can be found here:
https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/accessories/xbox-controller-for-windows-setup
3)
To use with an Xbox 360 controller, you can skip this step. In order to use the device with a PS3 or PS4
controller:
3.1)
Plug in your PS3 or PS4 controller with USB.
3.2)
Download the free XInput Wrapper drivers:
http://forums.pcsx2.net/attachment.php?aid=44084
3.3)
Unpack the file and run the ScpDriver.exe file from the ScpServer\bin folder.
3.4)
Windows XP or Vista users - check the Force Install option. Windows 7 or 8 users - leave it
unchecked.
3.5)
Click the install button.
4)
The VSTi does not require this but you will need two MIDI drivers in order to use the standalone version
together with your DAW - a driver for the controller and a driver for your DAW. Make sure the DAW does not
activate both drivers or there will be no driver available for the controller. You can ensure this will always be
the case by first opening and assigning a driver in the controller and only then opening your DAW. If your
soundcard and system don’t support multiple MIDI drivers by default, you can set this up by using a virtual MIDI
driver device like for example LoopBe1 from:
http://nerds.de/en/loopbe1.html
5)
Plug in and/or turn on your physical Xbox 360 or PS3/PS4 controller and open either the standalone or
VSTi version of the OS Xbox 360 and PS3/PS4 MIDI Control device.
6)
Press the connect button on the OS Xbox 360 and PS3/PS4 MIDI Control. If connection is correctly
established the connection LED will light on, and the device will respond to input from the controller.
7)
For the stand-alone version, setup your MIDI routing so that MIDI is routed from the OS Xbox 360 and
PS3/PS4 MIDI Control to your DAW or external hardware. For the VSTi version, route the MIDI from the VSTi
channel to your hardware.
8)
Link parameters to your Xbox 360 or PS3/PS4 controller by assigning MIDI CC parameters in the OS Xbox
360 and PS3/PS4 MIDI Control settings panel.
