Caring for your Nuvita HR monitor
•
Disconnect the Nuvita monitor from the strap after each use. Wipe the monitor and connectors
with a soft towel. Clean the connectors with mild soap and water solution when needed. Do not
use alcohol or any abrasive materials. Never put the monitor or strap in a washing machine or
dryer. Do not bend or stretch the electrodes on the strap.
•
Rinse the strap under warm, running water after every use. Hang or pat dry. Do not stretch or
forcibly twist/wring the strap. Rough handling may damage the electrodes.
•
Wash the strap in warm water after every fifth use. Use a mild soap and water solution. Do not
use moisturizing soaps, bleach or fabric softener.
•
If you use body lotion or electrode gel you may need to wash the strap more frequently.
•
Leave the Nuvita monitor disconnected from the strap except during use.
•
Do not store when wet in a non-breathable material.
•
Do not expose to direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
Additional possible causes for abnormal HR
•
Make sure the strap is properly positioned and on tight enough for the electrodes to make a
constant, firm electrical contact with the skin.
Wet the electrodes well with water
.
•
A fluttering shirt (especially synthetic material) may cause static electricity.
•
Chest hair can cause erratic HR readings. Electrode jell may help, but be sure to clean the strap
after each use if you use electrode jell.
•
Ensure proper cleaning of the strap and monitor. Rinse after each use, and occasionally wash
with mild soap and water (see care instructions above).
•
If you constantly have a lot of problems with abnormal HR readings, try different positions to
find the best position for you. If the signal is weak when the monitor is placed right under the
pectorals (recommended position), move the sensor left or right, lower or higher to find the
best signal. Moving the monitor to your side or back helps for some people too.
Additional monitor pairing information
Try to get into the habit of opening the Corsync app and letting it connect to your Nuvita monitor as
soon as you put the chest strap on (or as soon as you get to the place you are working out at if you put it
on at home). The reason for this is, if you are wearing your monitor but it is not connected in the
CorSync app, your monitor is open. If it is not connected then a different user could potentially pair to
your monitor, thus preventing you from being able to connect to it. Once you open the CorSync app and
it picks up your heart rate, then the monitor is connected in the app, and itis not available for anyone
else to pair with it.
Here is some additional information on paired devices. In the CorSync app, tap the More menu at the
bottom of the app, then tap Paired Devices. If you have a paired device, there will be a red Forget Device
button, and there will also be an ID number shown. That ID number is basically the serial number of
your device. You should never have to tap the forget device button unless you get a replacement device.
But if you are having a problem connecting, you can take note of the ID number before you tap forget
device. Then, being sure you are at least 50 feet away from anyone else wearing a device, tap the green
Pair/Connect button to pair the device. The ID number should still be the same, unless you were
somehow paired to a different device previously. If the device does not pair, see the problem pairing
section on the previous page.
