Cue Buttons:

Activating a Cue button will send pre-fader, post-EQ audio to the PFL side of the cue mix

headphone controls.  The FX Cue button will send the FX RETURN signal.  Refer to the Block Diagram
chapter for more information on signal routing/mixing in the PPD9000.

14.

Information Lens:

These back lighted displays indicates the current mode of the channels and outputs

they are associated with.

15.

Headphone Jack:

Your headphones can be connected to this ¼” terminal.

Note:

 The volume should

always be set at its lowest setting while connecting and disconnecting headphones to prevent damage to

headphones and/or your hearing.  Do not power your equipment on or off while wearing headphones.

16.

Headphone Volume/Split Blend Knob:

Volume:

Use this rotary control to adjust the volume level of the headphone output.

Note:

 Headphone

volume can be set extremely loud.  Take special care when adjusting this control.

Split/Blend:

The Split/Blend option is toggled by pressing this knob.  It will split the headphone audio

such that Cue button selections are mixed to mono and applied to the left headphone output, and the
PGM audio is mixed to mono and applied to the right headphone output.

17.

Cue Mix Fader:

This mini-fader crossfades between Cue button selections and the Program mix.

18.

Headphone (CUE) Tone:

This adjusts the tone of the headphone output.

19.

Crossfader Assign/Fader Start Enable:

Crossfader Control:

These rotary switches located on either side of the crossfader assign channels to

the crossfader.  Channels 1, 2, 3, 4, 1+2, or OFF can be assigned to the left side of the crossfader

(Crossfader Side A). Channels 1, 2, 3, 4, 3+4, or OFF can be assigned to the right side of the crossfader
(Crossfader Side B).  Note that for each channel, the info lens will indicate “A” or “B” indicating

crossfader assignment.

Fader Start:

(Crossfader Start Mode)

Attach your mixer to a remote start CD player using industry

standard mono 1/8”(3.5mm) cables.  Pressing the rotary switch toggles activation of Fader Start for the
selected channel.  When activated, the channel info lens “FS” text will light up.  When you move the

crossfader from an endpoint toward the active channel, the attached CD player will start.  When it is

returned to the endpoint, the CD player will cue (similar to pressing the cue button) or stop depending
upon the brand of CD player.

(Channel Fader Start Mode)

Turn both crossfader assign switches to the

OFF

 position, and activate fder

start on

both

sides of the mixer.  The info lens will indicate “FS” on each channel, and all crossfader

assigns (“A” or “B”) are disabled.  Moving any channel fader up from the bottom position will issue a
START command on the respective fader start output, moving the fader to the bottom position will issue

a STOP command.

20.

Replaceable Crossfader:

This slide fader blends audio between the channels assigned via Crossfader

Assign A and B assign switches.

Note:

The crossfader is user replaceable in the unlikely event that it

wears out. Simply remove the facepanel and then remove the screws holding it in position.  Replace the
fader with a quality authorized replacement from your local Numark retailer

21.

Master Volume:

This control adjusts the main output volume using the PROGRAM audio as a source.

22.

Master Meters:

The PPD9000 “liquid” meters provide an accurate indication of audio levels and an

appealing look.  With the compressor/limiter option set (see Customize Mode), the top of the meter

accurately displays the compressor gain reduction in red, while the blue portion shows the level.  If the

gain reduction level appears dimly, the compressor is active and transparently adjusts the gain of the
audio, while adding a bit of compressor punch.  If the gain reduction meter appears brightly, it is

recommended that the gain trim or channel fader is brought back a little to ensure a wider dynamic
range.

23.

Master Balance/Mono:

Adjusts the balance of left and right audio on the Master outputs.  Pushing the

balance control knob toggles between mono and stereo modes.

24.

Booth Volume/Assign:

Controls the volume of the booth output. You can assign the source of booth

output by pressing the booth knob.  By default, the booth output is the PGM submix of channels 1-4

without the microphones, to avoid feedback problems.

Note:

In Customize Mode, the booth output can

be set to include the microphone inputs.  Refer to Customize Mode chapter for more details.

By pressing

the knob you can also assign the booth output source to play the cue mix selection you can also hear in

your headphone output.  This is useful when DJing in an isolated booth without using headphones.

25.

Zone Volume/Assign:

Controls the volume of the zone output.  Pressing this knob cycles through the

zone output options channel 1,2,3,4 (pre-fader) and MASTER.  The “ZONE” text will light on the
respective channel or master/cue info lens as per the zone assignment.

26.

FX Send/Return Assign & FX Flash:

This selects which channel is routed through the FX send outputs

and FX return inputs.  The options are Mic 1&2, Channel 1, 2, 3,4 and Master.  Refer to the Block

Diagram chapter for specific details on FX send/return routing.  Pushing the FX Send/Return Assign knob
will instantly “flash” the FX wet/dry mix to 100% wet.  Releasing it returns the mix to the position of the

FX Mix fader.

27.

FX Mix:

This controls the wet/dry mix of the FX send/return.  At the minimum position the dry signal is

mixed.  At the maximum position the dry signal is replaced with the FX return input.

28.

Sub bass:

This controls the amount of subbass synthesis applied to the Master and Record outputs.

Subbass synthesis is a powerful tool that produces subharmonic frequencies to enhance the frequency
response and range of the sound system connected to the mixer.  When the control is set to maximum, it

can be useful for enhancing old recordings that lack low end signal strength, but may be excessive for

newer, already bass-heavy recordings.
