The launch of the Hubble telescope in the 1990s heralded
a new era of space discovery. A view into the far reaches of
the Universe was now possible, giving rise to a new
landscape of possibilities. Serving to inspire, serving to
excite and, of course, build on our understanding of
deeper space, it is named after American astronomer
Edwin Hubble, who first helped identify nebulae, which
would turn out to be galaxies well beyond the Milky Way.
