Fax Server (HylaFAX)
HylaFAX is the leading fax server for UNIX-like computer systems. It uses a client-server design
and supports the sending and receiving of faxes and text pages on any scale from low to very high
volumes, making use of large numbers of modems if necessary.
At this time, there is no advanced install for HylaFAX.
HylaFAX requires that Java is already installed. For additional information, see the Java Web site

11.1 Installing HylaFAX
1 Click Add/Remove under Components , click All under Available Software , then select Fax
Server (HylaFAX) .

Click Basic , then click Next .
3 Specify the HylaFAX configuration settings.
Š Machine Type: Select Send and Receive if you are using this machine to both send and
receive faxes. Select Send Only if you do not have a dedicated phone line or only want to
send faxes from your machine.
Š Fax Identification String: This is the identification that is sent out with each Fax; a good
choice would be your company name.

Country Code: Country code of your fax server.

Area Code: Area code of your fax server.

Long Distance Prefix: Long-distance prefix for your fax server.

International Prefix: The prefix you need for an international call.
Š
Dial Out Prefix: Specify a number here if the fax modem needs to specify a number to go
outside of your internal phone network.
4 Specify the modem configurations.
Š Modem Device: The TTY port of your fax modem is a serial port modem. It is probably
something like /dev/ttyS1. If this is an internal or built-in modem, Linux modem drivers
need to be configured.
Š Phone Number of the Fax-modem: Phone number of the fax modem.
5 Review the settings. To make a change, click Back . To proceed with the installation, click Next .
6 The HylaFAX installation is now complete. Click Finish to proceed to the installed software
page. HylaFAX is now listed on the installed software list and can be administered from the
HylaFAX administration link.
