Manufacture Discontinue Definition
This MD notice serves as a formal communication to customers and channel partners, documenting the
effective change of product status and the resultant cessation in accepting new orders. The MD of these
products does not affect any Nortel Networks agreements to support the existing field population. Services
to the existing product (including hardware repair) will continue until the End of Life date of the product.
Support Details
Nortel Networks provides support to customers with a valid Nortel Networks Services Support (NNSS)
contract for 5 years after the Last Shipment date. The support contracts renewable during this period. They
include maintenance updates and patches, and support for Check Point hot fixes and feature packs for the
first 18 months. For the remainder of the five year term, after the Last Shipment date, customers covered by
a support services contract receive support for trouble shooting problems. No fixes, patches, or upgrades are
offered. Problem resolution may require an upgrade to the replacement products listed.
Manufacture Discontinue (MD) Schedule
Last Order Information
The last date of order acceptance for the discontinued firewalls is February 28, 2005.
Last Shipment Information
The last date for shipment of the discontinued firewalls is March 31, 2005.
Forecasted End of Life (EOL) Date
Barring unforeseen support issues, Nortel Networks supports these products until March 31, 20

. The
products reach End of Life status at that date.
Customer Actions
Nortel Networks recommends alternates to the systems being discontinued. Customers considering a new
purchase should choose from the Replacement Products listed.
For customers with existing 5614 or 5714 systems, this notice only affects the Switched Firewall Accelerator
portion of the system. The Switched Firewall Director 5014 component of the system remains current and
operates with either of the new Switched Firewall Accelerators, 6400 or 6600, to create the 6414 and 6614
systems.
For customers requiring on-site migration planning and installation assistance, Nortel Networks provides for-
fee services.
