Take a Measurement
1. Press the “ ” button. All display symbols appear.
2. The cuff will inflate to a suitable pressure (measurement
starts during inflation to prevent excessive inflating).
3. The cuff will then deflate slowly and pressure and pulse
rate will be measured. When an heartbeat is detected the
heartbeat symbol will flash.
1-Start 2-Inflating 3-Deflating 4-Result
4. The blood pressure and pulse rate are displayed when the
measurement is completed.
5. The cuff is deflated automatically, and all of the measurement
results are stored in the memory with date and time. The
IHB symbol ( ) will be displayed if irregular heartbeat is
detected.
6. Press the “ ” button to turn off the unit.
The appliance will automatically turn off after 30 seconds if not
used.
NOTE: To stop the inflation or measurement, press the “ ” button
anytime. The unit will stop inflating and then release and turn off.
Classification of Blood Pressure
After each measurement is completed, the LCD display will
show your position automatically on the six segments of the bar
indicator which corresponds to World Health Organization (WHO)
Risk Indicator.
Reference Material: Journal of Hypertension 1999, Vol 17 No.2
WHO
Diastolic Blood Pressure (mmHg)
Systolic Blood Pressure (mmHg)
Green
Yellow
Severe hypertension
Red
Optimal blood
pressure
(target value)
Normal blood pressure
Normal systolic value
Mild hypertension
Moderate hypertension
Note:
When a person’s systolic and diastolic pressures fall into different
categories, the higher category should apply.
Use the Memory Function
After every measurement the appliance memorizes the measured
blood pressure and pulse rate with date and time. It can store up
to :
BP-1300
: 60 sets of measurements (30 for each of the 2 memory
areas).
BP-1400
: 180 sets of measurements (90 for each of the 2 memory
areas).
When all sets of an area are full, the oldest memory will be
deleted. The unit also calculates the average of
BP-1300
: last 3 measurements of selected area.
BP-1400
: last 3 measurements, all measurements of selected
area, morning (AM) measurements of selected area, afternoon
(PM) measurements of selected area. Please select desired
memory area before reading the memory
