Code 128 / EAN 128 - ISBT 128 - transmit - 

single codes / concatenated codes

• Transmits single codes and concatenated codes
• If the product can only “see” one code of a code pair, it 

will send that code as a single code

• If the product can “see” both codes of a code pair, it 

will concatenate the codes if requested by the current 
concatenation setting (see “concatenate” section)

• Default concatenation setting is “authorized ISBT 128 

code pairs only”

IMPORTANT:
• Codes are not concatenated by default (default 

transmission setting is “single codes only”)

• You must select one of the “concatenated codes” 

transmission options to send concatenated codes (see 
“transmit” section)

• Code pairs are concatenated only if they comply with 

Section 4.1 of the “ISBT 128 Bar Code Symbology and 
Application Specification for Labeling of Whole Blood 
and Blood Components” (June 2000, Version 1.2.1) :

• Donation Identification ABO/Rh (D) Blood 

Groups

• Donation Identification Donor Identification 

Number

• Donation Identification Confidential Unit 

Exclusion Status

• Product Code + Expiration Date
• Other code pairs are not concatenated
