About NIBCO Strainer Kits
• The components in this kit were selected for use in HVAC applications.
• The kit should be fitted between ASME/ANSI B16.1 Class 125 flanges. In
accordance with ASME B16.5 & 5.3.5, and ASME B16.42 & 6.2.3, a higher class
flange shall be flat faced.
• The kit shall not be installed in a system that exceeds the lowest rated component of
the kit.
• The kit should not be installed in a predominately copper piping system. See
NIBCO Technical Bulletin -
Dielectric Products Relative to Electrolysis and Galvanic
Corrosion
, NTB-0714-01 for additional detail as necessary.
• The strainer may be mounted in horizontal, vertical or inclined pipework. When
installed in horizontal pipework the orientation of the body should be such that the
cover is immediately below. At low level pipe runs, the gap between the ground
and the strainer must be sufficient to allow for the withdrawal of the strainer screen.
In vertical or inclined pipework the flow direction shall be downwards only.
• This kit does not included the fasteners, nor the strainer end flange gasket needed
to connect the kit to the piping system.
• As supplied, the kit components are joined with ASTM A307 Grade B or SAE J429
Grade 2 bolting material.
• Should your kitted components be affixed with studs, the studs are also specified as
ASTM A307 Grade B or SAE J429 Grade 2. Supplied nuts are ASTM A563
Grade B or SAE J995 Grade 2. Always check for correct bolting for your system.
• For best performance and reliability, the water in your HVAC system shall be
properly treated for chemical and mineral composition.
