Engine - Engine cooling system
Radiator - Remove

Heavy objects!
Lift and handle all heavy components using lift-
ing equipment with adequate capacity. Always
support units or parts with suitable slings or
hooks. Make sure the work area is clear of all
bystanders.
Failure to comply will result in death or serious
injury.

NOTE: The images showing disassembly were done on a
machine with an NEF engine. The operations are similar to
disassembly with an F5A engine. A note will highlight any
particularly different operations.
Perform operations 1 through 7 (see Fuel tank - Re-
move (10.216) – front). Then proceed as described be-
low:
1. Remove the right-hand and left-hand radiator fan
guards (1) .
2. Drain the expansion tank. Loosen the clamp. Then
remove the expansion tank.

3. Place a container under the cap (1) to collect the engine
coolant. Then drain the coolant. Detach the sleeve (2)
from the lower piping on the engine and drain off the
remaining coolant.
NOTE: On the F5A engine there is a rigid sleeve where
there is a cap, still on the right-hand side on the cover of
the engine oil heat exchanger. Collect the majority of the
coolant from the cap. Then loosen the clamp on the flexible
sleeve. Extract the sleeve. Collect the rest of the coolant.
