Advanced Configuration

The following are the differences between remote dial-in users and remote nodes:

•

The router makes calls to or answers calls from the remote node, but the router only answers
calls from the remote dial-in user.

•

Each remote node can have its own set of parameters such as Bandwidth On Demand,
Protocol, and Security, while all remote dial-in users share one common set, as defined in this
menu tab.

•

Usually, remote dial-in users are individual users who dial in to the router directly from their
workstations, while remote nodes represent networks and are used for LAN to LAN
connections.

When authentication is completed for a remote user, the router uses parameters from the profile
of that particular remote user. There are buttons on this menu tab to access the individual
configuration profiles for up to four dial-in users.
