has been found.
7.8 Inlet safety grating
The safety grating in the inlet silencer may clog if the
dust collection is poor, or the vacuum unit is located in
a very dusty area. Perform the following inlet safety
grating inspection every 500 hours of operation:

Turn off the unit.
2 Remove the roof from the unit.
3 Inspect the safety grating for clog, see Figure 1
item 17.
4 Refit the roof.
7.9 Motor bearings
The recommended intervals for replacing lifetime
greased bearings or re-greasing the grease nipple can
be found on the motor data label or motor manual.
The operating time before service depends on size,
environmental and operating conditions. As the fol-
lowing values are guidelines at normal operation:
• Replace permanent bearings before 15000 hours of
operation.
• Re-grease the bearings at least every 2000 hours of
operation.
7.10 Start-up and vacuum limiting valve
Figure 1 item 14 shows the vacuum limiting rub-
ber-coated valve disc. Only replace the valve disc
if damaged. The circular ‘ridge’ must face the com-
pressed air cylinder.
Perform the following start-up and vacuum limiting
valve inspection every 500 hours of operation:

Start the unit.
2 Place your hand on the motor cooling air outlet,
Figure 3 item 16.
3 The valve works correctly when:
• Air is sucked into the motor cooling air outlet
during Y mode.
• Hot air is blown out from the motor cooling air
outlet during D mode.
7.11 Vacuum level
WARNING! Risk of personal injury
Use a hearing protector when verifying the
vacuum level. The sound level is very high
when the unit is run with the enclosure roof re-
moved.
Perform the following vacuum level inspection every
500 hours of operation:

Close all valves at work sites.
2 Start the unit.
3 Verify the level on the vacuum meter corres-
ponds with the working vacuum specified in
Sec-
tion 3.6 Technical data .
4 Adjust the vacuum level if necessary, see Sec-
tion 7.11.1 Adjusting the vacuum level .
7.11.1 Adjusting the vacuum level
Do the following to adjust the vacuum level:

Remove the roof. Keep all enclosure panels in
place.
2 Release the regulator knob from the locked posi-
tion, see
Figure 1 item 15.
• Turn the knob anti-clockwise to decrease the
vacuum.
• Turn the knob clockwise to increase the vacuum.
3 Push down the regulator knob to the locked posi-
tion.
4 Refit the roof.
7.12 Pump service
The 3-lobe roots pump must be dismantled for re-
placement of bearings and gear wheels after 30000
hours of operation. This service must be carried out by
qualified personnel. Contact your local Nederman rep-
resentative for more information.
